Cos'è l'armocromia? Ecco le basi, in modo chiaro e semplice.

What is armocromia? Let's find out the ABC of this matter together.

Have you ever noticed how the same lipstick on you and on your friend looks completely different?

Going shopping, have you ever wondered why that fantastic oil-green velvet jacket gives your sister while she looks terribly gloomy on you?

Or why that wonderful powder-pink pleated dress gives your colleague an elegant and refined air while on you immediately the great-grandmother effect?

I often hear you say, "but I am clear, she is olive, that is blonde, the other is brunette." Perhaps this is not the point.

The reason why a certain color gives you or not revolves around that abstruse word: ARMOCROMY !

Introductory guide to armocromia for beginners.

Let's start with the basics: what does armochromy do?

ARMOCROMY = ARMONIA DEI COLORI is a system created at the beginning of the last century by Johannes Itten (1888-1967), a Swiss artist and professor at the Bauhaus School of Art, in Germany. Itten wrote in 1961 "The Art of Color", a book in which he exhibited a new color theory that takes into account the two main characteristics of color:

    • Temperature (hot or cold)
    • Value (light / dark)

Starting from the temperature Itten divides the colors into warm colors and cold colors.

The warm colors are those with a yellow base, the cold colors are blue based!

The primary colors are:

    • Red or primary magenta
    • Primary yellow
    • Primary blue from these three colors derive all other colors.

Brightness or depth is obtained by adding black and white.

In summary:

    1. Warm colors are yellow based.
    2. Cool Colors are blue based.

Armocromia: primary, secondary and tertiary colors.

The four seasons of armochromy

From this Itten subdivision, observing nature, or the alternation of the seasons, created four precise chromatic categories corresponding to the four seasons and connected them to the human being.

Winter

Summer

Spring

Autumn

The four seasons of armochromy.

According to this theory the warm and luminous colors correspond to those that normally predominate in nature during the spring or the apple green, the emerald green, the periwinkle purple, the coral, the turquoise, the light gold, the typical yellow of the daffodils that bloom in April, the orange, the orange-red while the cold and light ones correspond to the colors of the summer landscapes ! As a typical example of summer colors, the summer sea that varies from blue to light blue, all the lilacs of the wisteria in bloom or the lavender fields, the rosé red of watermelon etc etc ...

These are examples of light colors, while dark can be:

The shades of cold and dark colors present in winter like all snow-covered landscapes, the icy white of the snow, the black brown of bare tree trunks, the black of coal, the dark blue of the sea in winter, the red of the Hawthorn berries whose ripe berries take on a wonderful ruby red color, the blue violet of the juniper berries, the gray of the roofs of winter houses!

The shades of warm and dark colors recall the autumn colors are the orange fire of the pumpkin on Halloween, all the chestnut browns and chocolate, the red of the wine drunk in front of a fireplace, the bronze and the gold of the falling leaves, the military green and the green bottle of trees, the red of the setting sun!

In conclusion, what is the use of armochromy?

It means that every person is born with natural colors and your skin regardless of hair color or eyes reacts naturally to certain colors!

Let's start with make-up removers, with tied hair and natural light of the day, and wear garments of different colors on the face: we will immediately notice how our perception of the skin changes with each different shade.

Note how the face appears with that color, for example if you have an imperfection, a pimple, any discoloration, perhaps with the bottle green, for example, you don't notice and instead, with the powder pink you notice immediately the dark circles, the teeth are not perfect etc etc and to mitigate them you have to put on makeup with various layers of make-up.

This is the armocromia, based on the natural color of the people, the face is highlighted, or on the contrary is penalized by the color to which we match it.

In summary, based on this theory, each of us has natural colors that, depending on parameters such as temperature (hot or cold) and value (how clear or dark a person is overall, so eyes, hair natural, leather), reflect those found in nature in a given season of the year.

We would have to explain the seasons and the various classification methods, but this first "armochromatic" approach began to reflect on how you are removing make-up in the morning, with your hair tied and with certain colors placed next to your face.
